ANDOVER, Mass.-Mobile music provider Groove Mobile announced plans to deliver a personalized music service to 14- to 24-year-old wireless users.
The offering, which will launch in Europe this summer, will target young music fans and offer music choices based on user preferences, tastes and purchase patterns. Groove Mobile expects to make “Discover Hits” available to U.S. users by year’s end.
“Current mobile music services assume that customers already know what music they want to buy when they turn on their phone,” said Adam Sexton, the company’s vice president of marketing and product management. “By referencing our extensive database of customer preview and purchase history, Discover Hits makes the mobile phone the fastest and most direct way for consumers to get access to new music.”
Groove Mobile currently offers customized “push” mobile music services in four European countries and Singapore, and has relationships with labels including EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, Warner Music and V2.
