The IEEE’s Joint Proposal team is set to submit its proposal for the 802.11n standard for high-speed Wi-Fi at the task group’s meeting next week in Hawaii, where the standards specification for faster Wi-Fi is expected garner the required 75-percent approval from member voters.
Once the IEEE ratifies 802.11n, the Wi-Fi Alliance will begin interoperability certifications for Wi-Fi products. The first .11n Wi-Fi certified products are expected to be available in early 2007.
