CHICAGO-Mobile mapping applications company Telmap Ltd. said its Polaris Mapping and Navigation System is ready to launch in the United States as a solution for some Nokia global positioning system-enabled handsets.
Polaris will provide users with turn-by-turn navigation in graphic, text and voice formats, full-color maps and maneuver maps. Data will be provided in real time via high-speed data transfers, said the company.
The product also allows customers to send locations and point-of-interest information, such as bars and hotels, to friends using text messaging.
The first compatible phone is scheduled to be available in the fourth quarter.
