Gosen promotes mobile gaming as I-play’s new CEO

LONDON—I-play removed the word “acting” from David Gosen’s title, installing the 2-year employee as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Gosen, who started with I-play in 2004 as chief operating officer, had been acting CEO since Brian Greasley stepped down last October. Gosen’s resume includes stints at Nintendo Co., British Sky Broadcasting, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola.

The executive has been a vocal advocate of one-thumb casual titles, saying the industry places too much importance on next-generation features like 3D graphics and multiplayer functionality. And Gosen has actively urged operators to become more involved in marketing mobile games.

“The carriers need to step up their focus on mobile gaming,” he said at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, last month. “There’s a lot of hype about (mobile) music and TV, but not as much about gaming.”
