BEIJING-Chinese telecom supplier Huawei said it won a contract with Umniah Mobile Co. for a GSM/GPRS/EDGE network in Jordan. The network is based on GSM 1800 MHz technology, Huawei said.

In addition to the core network, the contract covers the radio access network and all other network elements to provide telecom services. The network elements are third-generation ready and based on high-capacity Softswitch technology, the company said.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Umniah was awarded a mobile license in Jordan in August 2004.
