NAPLES, Fla.—Neighborhood America is looking to take its success building online communities to wireless.
The company announced the acquisition of Movo Mobile, a fellow Florida-based developer that provides mobile marketing technology. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
While Neighborhood America may not be a household name, the company has gained solid traction by helping businesses, government agencies and media outlets create online participatory communities. The company’s technology creates forums where users and customers can share information with each other as well as interacting with corporations and public organizations.
Customers of Neighborhood America include ABC News, the Department of Defense, the State of Florida and The Weather Channel.
“Every organization is concerned with their community (of customers and constituents),” said Dan Miller, Movo’s chief executive officer who will head the company’s mobile efforts. “So social enterprise networks really have a purpose, and that’s around decision-making. Consumers have an expectation today that because of the social networks they’ll be able to participate and have input into an organization.”
