Ericsson wins 1x contract in Sri Lanka

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson and Suntel Ltd. have signed a sole supplier agreement for a turnkey islandwide CDMA2000 1x network for voice and data services in Sri Lanka.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide its CDMA2000 1x network solution, including core and radio; value-added applications, such as multimedia messaging service, short message service and prepaid; and services such as radio network design and optimization, training and network rollout.

Deployment will begin soon with expected commercial availability in the second quarter. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
