Movers and Shakers: Verizon taps Davies as CFO; Hunt joins Kelley Drye & Warren; and more

Verizon Wireless named Andrew Davies vice president and chief financial officer. He replaces John Townsend, who has been named regional chief financial officer – Europe for Vodafone Group. Both men will assume their new roles Nov. 15. Davies most recently was CFO of Vodafone Essar, the Indian subsidiary of Vodafone Group.

William P. Hunt III joined the Chicago office of Kelley Drye &Warren L.L.P. as special counsel. He is a member of the Telecommunications Practice Group, and he represents clients in regulatory and compliance proceedings, in private litigation, and in corporate transactions, including inter-carrier negotiations. Previously, Hunt was vice president at Level 3 Communications Inc., where he was responsible for public policy initiatives.

Seven Networks announced Michael Luna joined the company as chief technology officer, Tamara Steffens joined the company as executive vice president of worldwide field operations and David Ratner was promoted to chief operating officer. Luna previously held positions with AliphCom, Openwave Systems and 724 Solutions. Steffens has held positions with FusionOne, Intelliden, Openwave and 724 Solutions. Ratner’s previous experience includes positions with Carrier Access and Openwave.

Ralph Santitoro, director of Carrier Ethernet market development at Fujitsu Network Communications, was re-elected to the Metro Ethernet Forum board of directors. Santitoro also is co-chairman of the MEF’s Professional Certification subcommittee, where he is focusing on creating a new Carrier Ethernet professional certification program and is co-developing a new technical specification that defines Ethernet access services. Santitoro is a founding member of the MEF, which was launched in 2001.

Diversinet Corp. appointed Dr. Richard Eidinger to its board of directors. Eidinger is a physician executive with healthcare industry experience that includes positions with Aetna Health Plans and FHP. He currently is a partner in the Life Sciences Practice of Heidrick & Struggles. Diversinet has been making appointments and moves to broaden its expertise in the mobile healthcare-information management market.

Qik said it made two strategic appointments to support the company’s recent growth. The company named Bob Rosin executive vice president of business and corporate development and named Allyson Campa senior vice president of marketing. Rosin most recently was SVP of marketing and business development at OQO. Campa previously worked at a variety of start-up companies including MySoftware Co., Bravanta, MetaCafe and SuperSecret.
