Motorola Mobility has put another tool in its arsenal as it prepares go it alone following a split at Motorola Inc.
The company has acquired 4Home Inc. to bolster its position in the connected home space. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company has developed patented software and services in the field, including ControlPoint, which can control energy management, home security and monitoring, media management and home health.
“At Motorola Mobility, we continue to invest in our converged experiences portfolio, and 4Home provides a wealth of services and software applications that offer consumers control and information for their digital lives,” said Dan Moloney, president, Motorola Mobility. “The addition of the 4Home portfolio helps expand our vision of converged experiences in the home and beyond.”
4Home president and CEO Leon Hounshell added that his team looks forward to “tapping into new business segments, such as cable, as well as adding significant resources to support our current customers and partners.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed and it is expected to close by the end of the year.
