Is flat still the new up for mobile TV?

Television is as American as apple pie. Translating that love for moving pictures to the mobile screen has been a prolonged challenge. Usage is finally up in some areas, but it’s not all cheers for mobile video just yet.
The number of people watching mobile video has jumped more than 43% in the last year, according to a new report from The Nielsen Company. The time spent watching video on mobile is also up 7% from the year-ago period.
During Q2 2010 at least 22 million people accessed video on a mobile device, which is up from 15.3 million people in the same period a year ago. Not everything is up, however. In terms of how long people are watching video, growth was flat between Q1 and Q2 of this year.
The biggest problem for mobile TV remains the same: scale. A group of 22 million viewers is nothing to scoff at, but things do come into perspective when you compare that to the 287 million people who watched TV in their homes during the same period.
