Mobile mapping just got more attractive, as Nokia unveiled its new beta version of Ovi Maps 3D.
In a blow to Google, the Finnish phone firm has impressed the masses with its new software, designed by C3, which brings cities to life in very impressive 3D, allowing users to zoom in or out and navigate streets that are suddenly a lot more life-like.
“Our 3D maps are incredibly realistic! All the buildings, parks and playgrounds are there. It’s almost like being there. Cities and neighborhoods can now be visited right from the sofa, smoothly from air to the streets in downtown areas,” proclaims the Nokia blog.
Google Earth does have a 3D view, too, but Nokia has seemingly pulled out all the stops for its interactive map, as you can see from the video below:
As Nokia notes, “The world is not flat, in fact it is quite three-dimensional.”
