Movers & Shakers: ICANN's new VP Europe; Payfone appoints COO; and more

Movial announced the appointment of Joakim Hedenstedt as Head of EMEA Sales and Marketing, Movial Creative Technologies (Movial CT). Mr. Hedenstedt is responsible for accelerating growth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and will lead Movial CT’s sales and marketing initiatives to expand its user experience design and engineering services to regional service providers, OEMs and ODMs as well as partners. Mr. Hedenstedt will report to Movial CT President, Mr. Tomi Rauste.

Astellia, provider of monitoring solutions for the optimization of mobile network QoS and performance, announces the appointment of Rajesh Sharma to the position of Vice President Sales and Customer Operations. He will lead all sales activities, operations and customer service to drive Astellia’s expansion into new markets and growth in its customer base. Rajesh Sharma brings with him more than 15 years of sales and business development experience in EMEA and Asia Pacific in the telecom and software industry.

The West Wireless Health Institute (WWHI) announced the addition of Dr. Robert Matthews as its chief technology officer (CTO). Dr. Matthews, who joins WWHI from Archinoetics, is responsible for leading the Institute’s biomedical engineering research and development strategy. In addition, WWHI has named Michael Caponetto as its chief financial officer (CFO). Both appointments are effective immediately.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has named Thomas Spiller to the newly created position of Vice President, Europe. The appointment was announced at the organization’s 41st public meeting in Singapore. In his new position, Spiller who is a French national will be responsible for driving ICANN’s strategic objectives in Europe. He will also manage the Brussels office and will be the focal point for regional issues.

Payfone, mobile payment processing service backed by American Express and Verizon, announced the appointment of veteran growth-stage company executive Matthew Tucker to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Tucker will drive the company’s global expansion and mobile payments adoption worldwide. Tucker was most recently the President of Recyclebank, the Wall Street Journal’s 2011 number four-ranked “Next Big Thing” venture-backed company.
