DALLAS-Executives, sales professionals and information technology staff at Newsweek use wireless e-mail services from JP Mobile and Sprint, the companies announced.
“It’s not always practical to lug around and boot up a laptop in order to access e-mail while on the road. We needed a more convenient solution for remote access, one that that would allow our senior execs and sales professionals to stay connected using wireless devices they could always have with them,” said Leonard Carella, vice president and chief technology officer for Newsweek. “We are primarily a Domino shop, so it was vital that the solution support Notes. Sprint and JP Mobile worked closely with us as we ran through a short pilot program and then rolled the solution out to our executive team and sales force.”
The company uses JP Mobile’s SureWave Mobile Office and Sprint’s PalmOne Treo 600 and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. i500 devices.
The news comes as a variety of wireless e-mail companies jostle to score top positions in the wireless enterprise market. Among the contenders are Research In Motion Ltd., Visto Corp. and Seven.
