Finnish radio station launches Nokia technology

ESPOO, Finland-SBS Finland’s Kiss FM radio station launched Nokia Corp.’s Visual Radio technology, which allows listeners to give feedback and to participate in programs.

“Kiss FM celebrates its 10th anniversary today. For the past decade, the station has been a pioneer in Finnish radio, introducing the first hit format, the first morning show, and the first radio Web site and chat room for the young listeners,” said Leena Ryynanen, chief executive officer of SBS Finland Oy. “It is therefore only natural that Kiss FM should be the first radio station in the world to offer Visual Radio broadcasts. We are extremely proud that Nokia has chosen SBS Finland as its partner in revolutionizing the radio landscape.”

In other Nokia news, the company announced the new Volkswagen Passat will come equipped with the Premium handset integration product from Nokia Automotive. The automaker will offer a factory-fitted automotive communication solution that supports the Bluetooth SIM Access Profile.

“For the first time, an automaker is offering a communication solution using the Bluetooth SIM Access Profile that is factory-fitted in the vehicle,” said Marcus Stahl, general manager of Nokia Automotive. “This represents an important engineering achievement: We have taken a further step toward universality in the domain of factory-installed, integrated communication solutions.”
