In conjunction with the CeBIT trade show in Germany, Nokia Corp. and Sony Ericsson showed off their new phone wares, which included mid-range devices, high-end camera phones and music-focused gadgets.
First up is Nokia, which released three new candybar-style phones the company said will strengthen its mid-range, voice-centric portfolio. The 6230i features a 1.3-megapixel camera, a music player with support for MP3, M4A and AAC, and push-to-talk technology. The Nokia 6021 features PTT and voice-activated dialing. Finally, the Nokia 6030 features a built-in FM radio and a color screen. The 6230i and the 6021 will ship in the second quarter, while the 6030 will ship in the third quarter.
Separately, Sony Ericsson released four new candybar-style phones, including its first device to sell under Sony Corp.’s Walkman brand. Sony Ericsson’s W800 features a 2-megapixel camera, a 0.5-gigabyte Memory Stick Duo slot, and an MP3 and AAC music player. Sold as a Walkman phone, Sony Ericsson said the W800 features 30 hours’ worth of battery life. The company also released the entry-level K300 camera phone, the 2-megapixel K750 camera phone and the entry-level J300, which supports three-dimensional games.
Most of the GSM phones are aimed at the European market, although variations may be designed for the North American market.
