Mobile Minute: The Mobile Minute is sponsored by SpiderCloud Wireless Microsoft has clearly decided that it needs to make hardware if it wants to be relevant in mobile, and now it looks like the software giant is moving beyond the Surface tablets and the handset business it acquired from Nokia. Paul Thurott’s Supersite for Windows reports that Microsoft is planning a wristband that will work with iOS, Android and Windows devices. Naturally Microsoft will need to address operating systems other than its own, since Windows has less than 4% of the U.S. smartphone market, and is struggling worldwide as well. The report says the Microsoft wristband will focus on fitness apps and will be ready in time for the holiday selling season, but offers no specifics on pricing or distribution.
