BOSTON-Mobile marketer YellowPepper launched a music-identification and delivery application featuring targeted personalized content.
The 5-year-old company unveiled its Mobile Music Services Suite, which sends a text message with information on tunes played into a handset with song title and artist. The application then offers track-specific ringtones, images and screenshots based on the identified pieces of music.
“Music labels should take a hard look at their campaigns and partnerships and ask if they are achieving the returns they want and expect from their efforts,” said Carol Erickson, YellowPepper’s president and chief technology officer. “If not, there is a disconnect in the mobile wireless value chain from the point of initial customer contact to when they make a purchase or participate in community or branded activities which generate revenue.”
