Boingo signs Wi-Fi pact with Connexion for in-flight service

CANNES, France-Boingo Wireless announced a pact to allow its subscribers to access Connexion by Boeing’s high-speed mobile Internet service in flight.

Under the roaming agreement, Boingo Wi-Fi subscribers on commercial airliners will be able to use Connexion’s service on carriers including Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines System, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways. The partnership expands on Boingo’s roaming offerings, which include 13,000 hot spots worldwide.

The roaming service will become available as Boingo and Connexion integrate their networks, the companies said.

“The unprecedented expansion of our intercontinental footprint makes the mobile office complete for airline customers,” said Colby Goff, vice president of network strategy for Boingo. “Working with Connexion by Boeing provides the ultimate in-flight convenience and productivity for our subscribers, allowing them to be efficient and effective at all times during their travels.”
