Firms to pitch emergency alert solution in U.S.

WASHINGTON-Global Resource Enterprises L.L.C. and British company Eazytext Communications Ltd. will market a wireless emergency alert solution in the United States and Middle East.

Global Resource Enterprises said next month representatives of Eazytext-which developed the city alert text system (C.A.T.S.) with the help of U.K. government funding-will come to the U.S. to pitch the solution to government policy makers.

C.A.T.S. enables cell-phone users to register individual locations so that warnings can be sent to their phones if an emergency occurs in that area, said Global Resource Enterprises, a Virginia-based consulting and marketing firm. The system uses short message service technology, one of the wireless technologies policy makers are examining as part of efforts to reform the nation’s Emergency Alert System.

In addition to C.A.T.S., Global Resource Enterprises said it will introduce TextSite, which is a Web-based texting system that can hold any amount of names and mobile-phone numbers in its database. By having a Textsite, according to the company, an organization can communicate quickly with large amounts of people, thereby saving considerably in communication costs.
