    • MapR Technologies, a distributor of open source software framework Hadoop, has gone into business with Australian firm Mediahub. Mediahub provides SD and HD digital content to Australian broadcasters.
    • More Hadoop news, data integrator UniFi announced it has raised $4.45 million in seed financing. UniFi will use the money to scale its business and jump start development of data acquisition and integration software.
    • Context Relevant has upgraded its Cloudera certification to include enhanced security features. Context Relevant specializes in predictive data analytics. Cloudera is a Hadoop-based data management platform.
    • More Cloudera news, the company announced it’s opening three offices in China, including posts in Beijing and Shanghai. The company said the new offices will help accelerate Cloudera’s Asian presence.
    • Telefonica, Oi and Claro are reportedly planning to make an offer for Rio de Janeiro-based TIM. TIM is 67 percent owned by Telecom Italia. Oi agreed to sell its Portuguese assets this week to make way for the deal.
    • Deutsche Telekom is in some hot water this morning as Germany’s supreme court ruled that the carrier failed to inform potential investors buying public shares at the height of the tech market bubble. The shareholders claim that Deutsche was too optimistic about the company’s value and sales projections effectively misleading the investors.
