DETROIT – AISIN displayed its intelligent transport system technologies at the Detroit Auto Show demonstrating how it can protect passengers by ensuring safer driving actions at many levels throughout the driving experience.
The company’s vision is different than others in that its goal is to monitor and evaluate the driver’s heart rate, breathing, and eyelid and face movement searching for irregularities. If the system detects irregular behavior it will take control of the vehicle, slow it down and ultimately come to a stop. There is a further vision that these systems will integrate with health care technologies to determine when a driver is having some type of health-related issue that is causing irregular driving and will be able to slow the vehicle and call for help.
In the meantime, the intelligent transport system addresses more of the traditional safety functions with some interesting twists highlighted in the video below. Just one of the scenarios that was being demonstrated this week.
