Zebra Technologies launches patient-minded products at HIMSS 2011

Zebra Technologies Corp. is showcasing a suite of new bar code and mobile printing products at HIMSS, a major healthcare IT conference kicking off in Orlando this week.
The products are aimed at reducing medical errors such as mislabeled specimen samples and improving patient safety. The new bar code and printing applications from Zebra can be used at patient bedside to label specimen and print wristbands for patients that can carry identification information and alert physicians to pre-existing conditions or allergies, for example.
“Ensuring the five rights of the patient is a priority when it comes to providing innovative solutions to the healthcare industry,” Kathie Trotter, industry development manager at Zebra Technologies, said in a prepared statement. “Our role in preventing medical errors is an important one, and we continue to develop products that allow nurses and doctors to deliver the best patient care possible. Mobile printing and scanning at bedside is an efficient and invaluable part of that solution.”
