WELLINGTON, New Zealand-4RF Communications, a digital UHF and microwave radio product developer, introduced its new 2 GHz version of its Aprisa XE digital microwave radio transmission system.
The system provides transmissions of 100 kilometers or more on a single link, said the company.
“We’ve identified a fast-growing need for the kind of digital transmission capacity that can be delivered in the 2 GHz band, which is often underutilized or is becoming available in many markets,” said Grant Dow, chief executive officer of 4RF Communications.
The company said the product is ideal for network operators in remote or rural locations. Typical applications include medium-capacity linking for mobile and broadband backhaul, ADSL and Ethernet extension, PSTN trunking, broadband wireless access, private mobile radio and remote monitoring and control applications for utility networks.
The Aprisa 2 GHz supports all current bandwidths from 250 kHz to 3.5 MHz and capacities up to 17 Mbps, said the company.
