SAIPAN-A variety of business and personal users in Europe, the United States and Asia have registered .mp domain names during open registration for dotMP, which began Dec. 1, according to Saipan DataCom Inc.
Saipan is an island in the Pacific Ocean.
“DotMP is all about the creation of unique online identities and publishing Web and mobile content,” said Gib Bintliff, Saipan DataCom’s president. “We expected a diverse group of users but not this much diversity this quickly.”
Saipan DataCom said registrants have included everyone from members of the British Parliament to Fortune 500 companies. The company offers a commercial site and a personal site platform, which provide users with .mp domain names as well as a variety of mobile site services.
