LOS ANGELES-Only a small percentage of trucking fleets have invested in global positioning system-based systems to locate and track trailer locations, despite the fact that many trucking fleets have difficulty keeping track of the locations and status of fleet trailers, according to C.J. Driscoll & Associates.
According to the survey, “Trailer Monitoring Systems and Services Study,” 60 percent of respondents indicated they would be willing to pay for trailer monitoring equipment, and 70 percent said they would be willing to pay a monthly monitoring fee.
The survey also found trucking fleet operators generally have a low awareness of most trailer monitoring solutions, and more than half of respondents would pay a premium for a system that monitors untethered trailers.
