STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Hewlett-Packard Co. has teamed with Swedish multimedia company Hotsip and Finnish mobile software developer Movial to bring a converged instant-conferencing product to market.
The companies announced the release of the first in a series of converged broadband/mobile applications. The first set of tested applications includes instant messaging, presence and instant conferencing between Nokia and Siemens Series-60 terminals, and PC users subscribing to broadband telephony and multimedia services.
“The successful testing of these solutions proves that the convergence of mobile and IP services is reality today,” said Jukka Kortesniemi, business development manager at Hewlett-Packard. “The interoperability with HP, Hotsip and Movial products proves the maturity of the IP multimedia technology between different vendors, which is one of the key success factors for evolution towards IMS (information management systems).”
