PLANTATION, Fla.-Transnet Wireless Corp. and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced an agreement that calls for Transnet to supply its Transnet Wireless Internet systems to park locations throughout the state.
The systems will allow campers and park guests to access e-mail and high-speed wireless Internet for a fee. The first kiosk has been installed in Pere Marquette State Park.
Transnet Wireless is working to establish a national network of Wi-Fi hot spots. The company is using a private local distributorship arrangement where equipment is placed at locations at no cost to the location owner, and hardware, maintenance and connection fees are paid by the local distributor out of profits from usage fees. The location owner shares in a percentage of revenues.<
