Rural carriers deploy Wireless Services technology for localized content

SAN FRANCISCO-Wireless Services Corp. said it has deployed its multimedia wireless data network and MicroLocal Mobile Content Engine offerings with regional carriers CellOne Great Lakes of Iowa and MidTex Cellular.

The Micro-Local Content Engine is a new service from Wireless Services that allows regional carriers to deliver custom, localized content including local news, sports scores and events.

“Our customers are eager to download ring tones, send photo messages and check local high school football scores on their mobile phones,” said Jerry Wilke, general manager, CellOne Great Lakes of Iowa. “In partnering with Wireless Services, we are able to offer CellOne subscribers these popular services, on a greater variety of handsets. Best of all, the custom, Micro-Local Content gives us a leg up on the competition, who offer the same, generic content to all their subscribers across the country.”
