Nortel Networks said it has appointed Clent Richardson to the post of chief marketing officer. Richardson will lead the company’s newly formed global marketing organization responsible for brand development and management, online presence, solutions marketing, advertising, public relations, sponsorships, promotions, community relations, employee communications and events. In addition, he will serve on Nortel’s global executive management strategy group. Richardson joined Nortel in April to lead its enterprise global marketing efforts. Prior to that, he was chief sales and marketing officer at T-Mobile.

Motorola

Motorola Inc. named Ron Garriques president of the company’s Personal Communications Sector, replacing Tom Lynch. Most recently, Garriques was senior vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa for the PCS division, and prior to that he was general manager of the worldwide product line management. Prior to joining Motorola in 1998, he worked as an AT&T Bell Laboratories engineer and in the network systems and consumer device sectors of Lucent Technologies Inc.

CTIA

The Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association has added Laura McPherson to its lobbying staff. McPherson, who joins CTIA as director of government affairs, most recently was senior legislative representative for the National Association of Realtors. She also has worked for the Manufactured Housing Institute and the American Diabetes Association.

Telenor Interactive

Rolf Woods has joined Telenor Interactive as executive vice president of sales and marketing, where he will be responsible for developing and advancing the company’s relationships with media, telecommunications and gaming companies worldwide. Most recently, Woods was director of sales and marketing at Norwegian telecom company Carrot Communications.

NetEffect

NetEffect named John Hagerman vice president of marketing and business development. Prior to joining the company, Hagerman was responsible for 3Com’s LAN Connectivity Product Management team.

JNetX

JNetX Inc. named Roger Boivin vice president of business development, where he will lead the company’s efforts in new markets. Most recently, Boivin was president and chief operating officer of ISCO International. Boivin holds several patents associated with high-level data transmission on wireless networks and instant activation of prepaid phones.

OZ

OZ appointed Bill Clift and Chris Burke to the company’s board of directors. Clift most recently served as chief technology officer at Cingular, where he directed strategic network planning initiatives, oversaw the carrier’s involvement in standards bodies and coordinated the technical development of new products and services. Burke served as CTO of Vodafone UK Ltd. where he was responsible for all of the carrier’s technology in the United Kingdom and other regional and global initiatives.

Glenayre

Glenayre Technologies Inc. said it has expanded its sales operation in response to anticipated increased global demand for its Versera ICE product. The company has appointed Nigel Waller vice president of international sales, responsible for all sales and account management activities in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia/Pacific. The company also appointed Dan Wessel vice president of global sales, responsible for all sales and account management activities in North, South and Central America and the Caribbean. He also will lead Glenayre’s global channel partners based in North America.
