Singtel, Ericsson to deploy 900 MHz-based LTE network
In other APAC news, Singapore telecoms operator Singtel and Swedish vendor Ericsson announced plans to deploy a nationwide LTE network using 900 MHz spectrum by the end of March.
Singtel said the deployment will be the nation’s first tri-band LTE network using spectrum in the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands. The technology upgrade will also enable Singtel to offer nationwide carrier aggregation technology and support download speeds of more than 300 megabits per second.
In 2014, Singtel launched a commercial dual-band deployment in collaboration with Ericsson supporting network speed up to 300 Mbps speeds.
SingTel ended 2015 with 4.1 million mobile subscribers, including 2.2 million LTE subscribers, and 50% overall market share.
