Streaming video offered on AWS UMTS network

SAN DIEGO-Mobile video applications developer for the security industry Perseus Wireless announced that its commercial and residential customers can now use the company’s PerseusPhone over AT&T Wireless Services Inc.’s UMTS network to access real-time security video. AWS noted the service is the first commercial streaming video application launched over its recently deployed UMTS network that is currently available in Dallas, Detroit, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.

Perseus noted the service extends existing CCTV and DVR security systems into the wireless environment and provides MPEG-4 video for real-time, full-motion video. The service also supports other cellular technologies, including GPRS, as well as Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity.

AWS began offering streaming video and audio content from Real Networks in August, though only the Motorola Inc. A845 handset is currently capable of supporting true streaming services.
