Siemens offers fix for Series-65 phone defect

MUNICH-Siemens AG announced it is offering new software for its Series-65 phones to solve the acoustic glitch it recently warned about.

The new software can be downloaded at <a href="url" www.siemens-mobile.com/software65 by users who can then update their phones themselves. The phones can also be updated by Siemens’ customer service and retail employees.

Affected phones included the C65, CX65, M65, S65, SL65, and provider variations like the CV65, CT65, CXV65 and CXT65. Because of the software defect, when a phone call is cut off due to a low battery, the disconnection melody could begin playing loudly enough to cause hearing damage if held up to the ear.

“We deeply regret the uncertainty this has caused among our customers,” said Thorsten Heins, head of mobile phones at Siemens mobile. “However, we did not only communicate the issue promptly and openly, but also put every effort into solving the issue in the 65 product series. As of today, we are now able to offer a comprehensive solution with the new software versions. And we remain convinced of the success of our products.”
