Through the new deal, the Canadian telco will offer energy management as a service
Virginia-based GridPoint has partnered with Canadian telecom firm Bell to deliver smart energy management solutions (EMS) to allow Canadian businesses to improve their energy usage.
The new internet of things (IoT) solution will broaden Bell’s EMS portfolio by offering energy management “as a service” to simplify the process of managing complex systems. The solution will be supported end-to-end by Bell, including the management of devices, applications and connectivity for customers.
“Energy costs and environmental management are significant expenses for businesses of all kinds, and Bell is pleased to partner with GridPoint to offer flexible EMS IoT solutions that can be simply integrated into existing building management systems,” said Nauby Jacob, VP products and services for Bell Mobility. “Bell’s EMS portfolio offers a range of turnkey and customizable solutions across all sectors that will help customers achieve their energy management goals.”

Indenesia’s Telkom signs IoT collaboration agreement with Fujitsu
In related news, Indonesian operator PT Telkom has signed a two-year strategic partnership with Japan’s Fujitsu to pursue the co-creation of businesses utilizing the IoT and other digital technologies and leveraging Telkom’s network infrastructure.
Under the collaboration agreement, both companies will seek to apply IoT and other advanced technologies to sectors including smart cities, healthcare, manufacturing and logistics.
The companies will initially conduct market research and verification of technical specifications, systems and service performance, before moving on to concept verification and then service co-creation.
Telkom operates a 106,000km broadband backbone across the country as well as a satellite system capable of serving Indonesia’s islands. The company is Indonesia’s largest operator, and is majority-owned by the government.
