Arrow Electronics inks deal with Vodafone to target IoT

Arrow to market and sell network services tailored for customer applications.

Arrow Electronics inked an agreement with Vodafone to market the latter’s “internet of things” services as part of its EVolve IoT offering.

The agreement between the two companies creates a new offering with global network coverage; wireless and embedded edge technology; system integration; data platform and cloud integration; enterprise computing; IoT edge device connectivity; and application enablement for connected devices.

Under terms of the agreement, Arrow will be able to market and resell network services tailored for customer applications, including 2G low data rate SIM connectivity for machine-to-machine applications.

The Arrow EVolve offering is designed to allow businesses to globally deploy, manage, monitor, analyze and monetize secure connected devices throughout their lifecycle. Arrow said the deal with Vodafone extends the services offering with managed data connectivity solutions the firm can now provide to its global customer base.

Arrow Electronics provides products, services and solutions to industrial and commercial users of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions.

Ericsson launches NFVi solution

Ericsson released its verified Network Functions Virtualization infrastructure solution, which is said to support multivendor capabilities, flexible deployment models and provide an incremental step in building infrastructure for “5G” and IoT.

Ericsson said the NFVi solution offering is based on a platform consisting of its Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000 and Blade Server Platform hardware, Cloud Execution Environment, Cloud Manager, Cloud SDN, and consulting, system integration and support services.
