LONDON-Samsung leads the market in available handsets that feature integrated cameras and multimedia messaging service capability, according to market research firm EMC’s World Cellular Handset Tracker.
The study, which covers 17 worldwide markets, showed more than 60 Samsung handsets with integrated cameras are currently commercially available vs. 18 Nokia handsets with integrated cameras.
During the second quarter alone, Samsung released nine handsets with cameras and MMS capability, while LG Electronics launched five, Motorola released four, and Nokia and Sony Ericsson each introduced three. “These figures underline Samsung’s strategy of capturing more market share by incorporating multimedia functionality on more of its handsets than rival vendors,” reads research from EMC.
