FutureDial software saves camera-phone pictures to PCs

SUNNYVALE, Calif.-FutureDial Inc. has announced SnapMedia Software, a PC-based program that lets camera-phone users download pictures from phones to PCs for archiving and sharing. The company said the program frees memory on the phone, like a digital still camera, letting users take more pictures and allowing them to store the pictures on their own PCs rather than central servers or networks, ensuring greater privacy and control.

“Camera cell-phone users want greater freedom, privacy and control over how they archive and share their pictures,” noted George Huang, president and chief executive officer at FutureDial. “Unloading pictures from traditional digital cameras to the PC is now commonplace, and so camera-phone users also want the same convenience of downloading camera phone pictures to the PC for storage or sending to others.”

The software also enables users to personalize their wireless phones with favorite pictures and musical tunes as ringers. Music files and photos on the PC can be cropped to desired sizes and lengths and exported to cell phones as unique images and ringers. These then can be assigned to specific names in the phonebook so when someone calls, a personalized picture and unique ringer will be used as a visual and musical caller ID.
