Wireless further infiltrates TV channels

Wireless users can play armchair general with their mobile phones during two new History Channel shows.

Enpocket, a New York-based content marketer and provider, has teamed with the network to allow viewers to answer questions about historic wars during “Decisive Battles.” The show will use gaming technology from the new video game “Rome: Total War.”

During a second show, “Command Decisions,” viewers will receive questions regarding military tactics and strategy. The half-hour, back-to-back shows premiere Friday, July 23 at 9 and 9:30 p.m. EDT/PDT.

Another television network/wireless company alliance will provide updates about Lance Armstrong and his U.S. Postal Service teammates during the ongoing Tour de France.

AT&T Wireless and Verizon Wireless users in the United States and Europe can receive daily short message service updates and action race photos with the service, which costs $1.99 plus airtime. The service is sponsored by the Discovery Channel, and content will be provided by Proteus, a division of Telitas US, Inc.
