EDINBURG, Va.-Sprint PCS affiliate Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. said its second-quarter revenues grew by 20.6 percent from the same quarter last year to $30 million, bolstered by a 23.3-percent increase in wireless revenues.
Overall income from continuing operations for the quarter stood at $2.9 million, or 38 cents per share, compared with $1 million, or 14 cents per share, for the year-ago quarter.
Shentel’s PCS business revenue reached $20.7 million, an increase of $3.9 million over the second quarter of 2003. The PCS net income was $900,000 for the second quarter of 2004 compared with a net loss of $800,000 million in the second quarter of last year.
The company said it increased its PCS customer count by 4,900, bringing total customers to approximately 94,500. In addition, churn was 1.9 percent, improved from 2.1 percent in the second quarter of 2003.
