Verizon offers Spanish translation service

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless and AppAbove Inc. launched Spanish Anywhere, allowing Verizon customers to use their wireless handsets as a Spanish -English dictionary and phrasebook.

For a monthly access charge of $2.99, Verizon users who carry phones equipped with the “Get it Now” feature will be able to translate between English and Spanish using the system’s 5,500-word, 1,200-phrase vocabulary.

“This is yet another application we’re launching for Verizon Wireless Get it Now customers that is designed to provide the best wireless experience possible,” said Aaron Isaksen, founder and chief executive officer of AppAbove, Inc. The New York-based company has created other wireless applications such as Tip Calculator and Spelling Helper.
