Continental to offer free Wi-Fi in airport lounges

HOUSTON-Continental Airlines said it would begin offering free Wi-Fi Internet access in all of its Presidents Clubs in the United States except for Chicago where it shares a club with Northwest Airlines. Continental plans to expand the service to its international clubs by the end of this year.

The service will be powered by Cisco Systems network equipment and will provide access to any Presidents Club member with an 802.11b-enalbed computer or client card from anywhere in the club.

“Our members want to stay connected at all times during their travel,” the airline said. “The free Wi-Fi service in our clubs complements Verizon Airfone’s JetConnect service onboard the aircraft and gives members the ability to stay in touch on the ground and in the air.”
