HELSINKI, Finland-Contrary to widespread reports, Nokia Corp. has not rejoined the WiMax Forum. But the wireless vendor plans to regain its membership status in the near future.
“It may be tomorrow or in two months,” said Kai Konola, director for strategy and business development for Nokia Networks.
He, however, said his company is already working with other players to standardize the specifications for 802.16e. He said his company pulled out of the forum because it considered 802.16 a and d, neither of which fit into its strategic interests.
