Access releases dynamic menu for user interfaces

SAN DIEGO-Wireless Internet browser vendor Access announced its new NetFront Dynamic Menu, which the company said allows wireless carriers to remotely update the user interface on their users’ mobile phones.

The offering follows similar products from several other vendors, including Macromedia, SavaJe Technologies, Opera Software, SurfKitchen, Trigenix, Microsoft Corp. and others.

“With NetFront Dynamic Menu, we are again driving innovation and delivering benefits throughout the mobile ecosystem, including consumers, mobile operators, handset manufacturers, and content creators,” said Toru Arakawa, the company’s president and chief executive officer. “Most importantly, NetFront Dynamic Menu makes the mobile Internet more fun and useful to the millions of subscribers that until now have only enjoyed static content.”

Access said its new dynamic menu offering allows carriers to push their own branded content and services directly to any handset, regardless of the operating system. Thus, operators can allow subscribers to create a custom home screen with favorite services like news, weather, sports scores, or calendars that are dynamically updated throughout the day.
