HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. announced a $50 million contract with Indosat in Indonesia to enhance GSM service coverage and capacity in East Java.
The first phase of the project has been completed, and phase two is under way.
The Nokia contract comes a week after Indosat announced a $120 million contract with L.M. Ericsson and a CDMA cooperation agreement with China Unicom.
In addition, Indosat announced Wednesday it will begin a 1x-based fixed wireless access service named StarOne. The first phase includes service in Surabaya and its surrounding areas in eastern Java.
