PALO ALTO, Calif.-Agilent Technologies Inc. said its second fiscal quarter 2004 results reflect the highest order and revenue levels of the past three years.
Orders for the company’s Test and Measurement division were up 23 percent from a year ago at $745 million. Agilent said orders were up in all regions and all markets except wireline telecommunications.
Meanwhile, Semiconductor Product orders registered at $523 million, up 25 percent from last year, with personal system orders up 35 percent and networking systems orders about even with last year’s levels.
The company said it collected orders worth $1.89 billion for the second fiscal quarter, up 24 percent from last year’s period. Revenues hit $1.83 billion, 25 percent above last year. Earnings reached $104 million, or 21 cents per share, compared with a loss of $146 million, or 31 cents per share, a year ago. Net income was $119 million, or 24 cents per share. In addition, the company ended the quarter with $1.84 billion of cash and equivalents.
“Agilent’s businesses are clearly picking up, with virtually all of our major markets and all geographies gaining momentum,” said Ned Barnholt, Agilent’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.
