OYSTER BAY, N.Y.-The Wi-Fi industry will continue to grow, driven by new equipment and innovative applications, according to a new report by Allied Business Intelligence. The firm predicted 95 million Wi-Fi networking equipment devices will be shipped in 2009. ABI also predicted 802.11g will surpass 802.11b as the most popular protocol this year due to consumers choosing products with faster speeds. In 2005, there will be more 802.11a/g shipments than 802.11g shipments, said ABI.
