More people will be using personal or employer-issued mobile devices for work, but no single operating system or platform dominates the market. Dell said its solution is designed to deliver the benefits of mobility without limiting end-user choice by delivering solutions that are secure, manageable, scalable and open to all mobile operating systems.

The portfolio is an investment in advanced services to address strategic points that enterprises and CIOs are experiencing as critical challenges to their business as the workforce becomes more mobile. The enterprise mobility services portfolio includes assets in six areas. First is the “strategic consulting services,” which are offered to establish an enterprise mobile strategy comprised of business consulting, tools, scenario assessment and cost-benefit analysis as well as implementation services for mobilization of workflows, business processes, mobile application development, end-to-end security, and networking.

Second is the “mobile device management” package to secure mobile lifecycle management services including provisioning, compliance, policy enforcement, asset management, application management, performance monitoring and usage.

The “telecom expense management” platform is designed for end-to-end best practices for management of voice, data, wireless, international roaming, and VoIP spend.

The fourth component, or “custom application development,” is arranged for rapid application development of emerging mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets with multi-platform, multi-carrier capabilities.

The “mobile enterprise application platform,” is to design, build and deploy based on the Dell mobility application platform (DMAP) to mobilize business applications and processes across any user, device and location on any network or mobile platform.

Rounding out the sixth area is the “security and compliance” side to secure mobile enterprise solutions for customers on both personal and corporate devices that deliver virtual and secure access to enterprise applications from any device.

Dell’s enterprise mobility services will be deployed in North America and the United Kingdom first, followed by expansion into the Middle East and Asian regions.
