The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
WiMAX
–Netherlands: Alcatel-Lucent said it completed a Universal WiMAX trial with cable operator Casema.
–Taiwan: Chunghwa Telecom launched a WiMAX network provided by
Nortel Networks to support emergency medicine and patient care services.
Miscellaneous
–Europe: TeliaSonera chose Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy a complete IP Multimedia Subsystem. Also in Europe, RAD Data Communications said it won a contract with T-Mobile International to provide a backhaul network for the carrier’s 3G and HSDPA networks starting in Germany.
–Mexico: Mobitex Technology AB won a contract with Comunicaciones Nacionales Troncalizadas SA de CV to supply and build a network to cover Mexico City and its suburbs.
–United States: WFI Government Services Inc. said it won a subcontract with Affordable Engineering Services for the Electronics Maintenance Group at Warner Robins Air Force Base. The contract is valued at $13 million. Also in the United States, Motorola Inc. said it won a contract to provide its Harmony wireless communications system to CPS Energy to streamline the energy company’s operations. And Aruba Networks Inc. said WakeMed Health & Hospitals has deployed its Mobile Edge Architecture to cover 12 hospitals, clinics and administrative offices in North Carolina.
