BORDEAUX, France-Looking to cash in on the massive success of “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” motion picture, wireless games company In-Fusio said it reached a deal with Jamdat Mobile Inc. to distribute Jamdat’s “King”-based game throughout Europe.
Wireless games have become a major section of the wireless data business, and those associated with popular movies and entertainment generally sell well, according to those in the industry. “The Return of the King” is one of the biggest movies of the year, generating international sales so far of $455 million.
“It is great news for our industry that Jamdat and In-Fusio join forces to offer operators the best of mobile gaming,” said Gilles Raymond, In-Fusio’s co-chief executive officer and president. “With an excellent distribution and flexible technology proposition, we are a natural choice for Jamdat.”
In-Fusio is selling the game through Orange in France, Telefonica in Spain and Vodafone in Germany.
In the United States, Verizon Wireless has an exclusive deal to offer “Lord of the Rings” content, much of which is built by Jamdat.
