More ‘Person of the Year’ nominations

It is a sad commentary on our industry that you can find only two real people who (in your opinion) merit serious attention. Where are the leaders, the visionaries, the person who actually FINDS the “next big thing?” If true, it does not speak well of our industry.

I’d like to offer a few nominations (I know-they’re closed) who have certainly affected our industry:

1. Judge Catherine Blake-nuff said.

2. Attorney Peter Angelos-so much money, “mine, mine, mine …”

3. The guy who invented (and the one who approved) that annoying beep on Nextel phones that makes you want to reach over to the next table at a restaurant and beat the user senseless (with their Nextel phone if possible). Closely followed by the loudspeaker volume in most situations.

4. Whoever wrote the LNP statute.

5. Rep. Charles Schumer and those of his ilk who find cell-phone driving more problematic than a hot cup of coffee in your hand while behind the wheel. Even when faced with research studies, these geniuses are unwavering in their desire to make laws to protect us from ourselves. Don’t most states already have “reckless operation” laws?
