Grooveshark app pulled from App Store after 8 days

Grooveshark’s app for the iPhone has been pulled from Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) App Store after just eight days.
The company worked for more than a year to finally win Apple’s approval to get its music streaming app approved, but a legal complaint filed by Universal Music Group UK quickly ended that. Apple notified Grooveshark that its app had been pulled yesterday after Apple received the letter from the record label.
“This comes as an absolute surprise to us, and we are not sleeping until we figure out exactly how to fix this — and get Grooveshark for iPhone back in the App Store,” the company wrote on its blog.
In a lawsuit filed by Universal Music Group earlier this year, the label said Grooveshark’s “business plan is based on copyright infringement” and accused the startup of illegally streaming songs from the label’s pre-1972 catalog, according to CNET.
